Summer roles (and maybe moving into winter too)
Right now we’re looking for two people to work one day a week each - sadly it can’t be the same person as you’d need to be in two places at once.
We’re starting at two new Saturday markets - one in Tottenham and one in Clapham and we need you to collect some wine, set up the stall, talk to customers, sell some bottles and pour some drinks. If you don’t drive, we can organise to have the wine sent to the market in the morning but driving is a plus.
We can guarantee one Saturday a week until the end of September and ask that you are flexible about which market you cover. Additional days may be available - we also run a programme of events and parties for which we often need staff - though this is on an ad-hoc basis only.
During August and September we will be trading at the following locations:
Brockley Market, SE4
Tottenham Green, N15
Venn St., SW4
Royal Arsenal, SE18
Limehouse Basin, E14
Chrisp Street, E14
In October the list will be much the same and in November two Christmas projects will also begin.
We’re looking for people who are enthusiastic about wine but not necessarily expert, trustworthy, happy to work alone, confident approaching customers and making introductions. This is a sales job and in the market environment which is competitive and bustling there will be times when you’ll need to really put your personality and vigour into making a sale.
It goes without saying you should be fairly clean, well-presented, good humoured and kind. If you haven’t worked on a market before it might feel like a knock if people are not interested or turn down your offer - you should be able to brush this off and keep going!
We'd like you to be available straight away.
- training and learning; sometimes together, sometimes a day away
- visits to suppliers and producers
- a working environment that is respectful - a place where you can bring yourself, your personality, and your opinions
- the chance to help shape the company and our direction as we grow together
We pay London Living Wage (currently £9.15/hour - to be reviewed in November) for all the hours you work and this includes set-up and take down time as well as any training we ask you to attend.
We’ll sometimes invite you to come for a drink with or or for something to eat. We won’t pay you to come, but we’ll cover the drinks and food!
We’ll obviously cover all reasonable expenses including things like taxis, ice, gaffa tape, batteries and other things you might need to do your job.
At each market, we have a sales target and after this target we pay 5% of turnover as a thanks on top of the hourly rate.
If this sounds like fun, please send your CV and a few words on what you’ve been up to recently, why you’d like to work with us and what nice wine means to you to email@example.com. If you’d like to have a chat first, I’m on 07703 665228.
Speak soon and many thanks for your interest in L’atypique.
