Cipriano and Antonio Barsanti
Lucca, Tuscany, Italy.
Certified organic farmers and biodynamic practicers, Macea do not use sulphites.
"Two brothers Cipriano Barsanti (a biodynamic lecturer at the University of Florence) and Antonio Barsanti (a flute teacher) were born and raised at Macea, and are now its guardians and winemakers. Here, in the mountains of Northern Tuscany, where the sea has no influence and the temperatures can vary by as much as 22 degrees celsius at night, they make extraordinary wines of great finesse, aromatic complexity and depth."
This wine has the colour of pink grapefruit juice and has not been filtered so is a little cloudy. The colour comes naturally from the skins of the grape which the juice has spent time on to give the wine more body and character. It is beautifully fresh and has lots of fruit character, peach, pomegranate and a fine herbacous, oily richness on the finish.
